How It Works

How it works:

HRMs feature two basic parts: a strap that is attached to the body, and a receiver, which records your heart’s activity during a ride. The electrocardiogram – impulse emitted by your heart’s beating – is sensed by the strap, which transmits the impulses to the recording unit. It’s a simple device that has proven to work effectively for two decades, and the today’s version of the HRM is able to include information such as training zones, recovery management and calorie consumption based on heart rate. In addition, data taken from a ride can be downloaded onto a computer while many higher-level models can also be used as regular cycle computers.
